Summer Professional Development Awards

Our Summer Professional Development Awards support students' internships and professional development projects. For Summer 2025, there will only be one round of funding applications. We are asking all undergraduate concentrators, potential concentrators, and graduate students in the Harvard English Department to apply for Summer Awards by May 20. Recipients will be notified of their awards in June.

Literary Careers & Literary Papers Summer Internships

Literary Careers invites graduate and undergraduate students in the Harvard English Department to apply for two internships with the LC Team in Summer 2025. Students interested in  paid leadership positions with the LC / LP Team in the 2025-26 or 2026-2027 academic years should apply for this internship to gain experience with us. LC’s interns will have a chance to shape the future of our scholarship and event offerings, working closely with the English Department’s faculty and administrative leadership. Past recipients of LC’s summer awards and students who have published articles in Literary Papers are especially encouraged to apply! Applications are due on May 20.

Professional Development & Publishing Funding for PhDs

PhD Candidates in Harvard's English Department are invited to apply for Professional Development & Publishing Funding. This funding will allow PhD candidates to replace one section of teaching with an internship or professional development project for one semester, while still maintaining their full Harvard salary. Students are also welcome to apply for partial funding on top of their full teaching assignment, if they wish to take on an internship while still TFing two sections. Applications for Fall 2025 funding are due by May 20. Recipients will be notified of their awards in June.
