Literary Careers & Literary Papers Summer Internships
Literary Careers Internship
The Literary Careers Intern will work with the LC Director in August 2025 to plan our mentorship events for the 2025-26 academic year, from our annual Professional Development Symposium to our Alumni Meet & Greets. This intern will have the opportunity to connect with graduate and undergraduate alumni of the English Department, to collaborate with faculty and administrative leadership, and to suggest event topics.
All applicants should have experience…
- In at least one previous student leadership position. E.g., running a graduate colloquium, serving as president of a club, working as one of LC’s editorial fellows for the Harvard Reviews.
- Communicating with graduate students, academic administrators, and faculty.
- Planning and publicizing events.
- Updating a website.
Ideally, applicants will also have experience…
- TFing or tutoring on campus.
- Planning around the English Department’s schedule.
- Communicating with alumni.
- Participating in Harvardwood events.
- Working with Adobe Suite.
- Managing a budget.
- Soliciting, reading scholarship or professional applications.
We anticipate that this intern will be a graduate student, but we are open to applications from undergraduates. LC hopes that our intern will wish to continue working with us in the 2025-26 academic year. Any students interested in joining LC's leadership team should apply.
Literary Papers Internship
The Literary Papers Intern will assist with the publication of LP's next print issue, website updates, and Fall 2025 Issue Release Party. Depending on their interests and level of experience, our intern may also assist with the copy editing for our next issue and/or recruitment for our editorial board and peer review team.
Ideally, applicants will have experience…
- Working with Adobe Suite.
- Designing and maintaining websites.
- Communicating with student authors and publishers.
- Planning and publicizing events.
- Coordinating with academic administrators and faculty.
- Copy editing.
- Creating merch.
When LP selects our next Editor in Chief, preference will be given to applicants with this internship experience, current members of our editorial board, and student authors who have published with us.
Interested in both Internships?
Graduate and undergraduate students are invited to apply for either or both roles. If you indicate that you are interested in applying for both internships, then the LC team will decide which role would make the most sense, based on your professional goals and previous experiences. Please note that we intend to hire two interns, so indicating that you are applying to both does not mean that you are eligible to receive both internships at once.
How & When to Submit
The deadline for all Summer 2025 applications is May 20, and our interns will be notified by June 30. Graduate students should email their applications to Stephanie Balakrishnan (sbalakrishnan@fas.harvard.edu), and undergraduate applicants should email Emily Miller (emily_miller@fas.harvard.edu). Please put all of the components of your application in one PDF file, and save the file as: last name-first name-LCLPIntern.
