Fictions of Sacrifice Publication
Rhema Hokama, PhD ’15, and currently Associate Prof. of English at the University of Washington, collaborated with a group of academics to produce Fictions of Sacrifice, edited by Freya Sierhuis and Francesco Quatrini, which is now hot off the press with Routledge Books's Early Modern Religious Dissents and Radicalism series. Rhema’s chapter focuses on 16th century Protestant maritime encounters with Indigenous religious ritual in what is now Brazil and California.
