Please join the Harvard University Department of English and Tara K. Menon for a Manuscript Workshop titled, "Spoken Words: Speech, Character, and Social Worlds in Nineteenth-Century British Novels." This event will take the form of a lecture followed by a Q&A.

Tara's book contains chapters on Jane Austen, Charlotte Bronte, and George Eliot. She combines computational tools and close literary analysis to reveal how direct speech shapes our understanding of literary characters and fictional worlds in nineteenth-century British novels.
