#  Stephen Greenblatt to Receive Honorary Doctorate

The Complutense University of Madrid governing council has agreed to award an honorary doctorate to Professor Stephen Greenblatt, John Cogan University Professor of the Humanities at Harvard University. The Complutense University English Department and the Madrid Theater Institute jointly proposed Professor Greenblatt’s inauguration to the School of Languages and Literatures.  
   
Complutense University is honoring Professor Greenblatt for his contributions to literary scholarship, particularly for his creative work, “Cardenio,” a re-imagining of Shakespeare’s lost play that links The Bard to Cervantes.   
   
The degree conferral ceremony will be held on March 13, 2024, at 11:30 AM, in the Auditorium of the Complutense University (c/ San Bernardo, 49 – Madrid). Complutense University will also be investing Professor Guillermo Owen, a professor of applied mathematics at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California with an honorary doctorate during the ceremony.
